Family events and activities take place throughout the year.
From a single acorn to a finished piece of beautifully hand crafted oak furniture. One man's work from start to finish. A simple ethos established by Robert Thompson, a.k.a. "The Mouseman of Kilburn".
The North Yorkshire County Records Office is located in Northallerton where millions of documents relating to the county's history are preserved and collected. The public can access these documents for personal, legal, administrative and historical purposes.

James Alfred Wight, who wrote under the pseudonym of James Herriot, became one of the most popular writers of the twentieth century. His books, a series of stories based on his experiences as a young veterinary surgeon working among the farming community of North Yorkshire, sold in their millions throughout the world. Mount Grace Priory is the best preserved Carthusian priory in Britain. Set amid woodland, the crumbling masonry and open grassland have become home to a collection of wildlife that has taken advantage of what previous owners, including the monks, left behind. As well as the Priory, there is a Manor House, 13 acres of gardens and the Orchard Cafe to enjoy.
